The Project


We are currently seeking a Signalling Project Engineer to play a key role in The Level Crossing Removal (MLXRT) Project team by providing effective project management throughout various projects across the Alliances.

This newly created role is an excellent opportunity to be part of a large-scale project which will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.



The Role


This newly created position will see you support the respective Program Alliances on the Level Crossing Removal Project by undertaking specific Signalling work.


You will work closely with our Project Managers, designers, Alliance partners and MTM Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure that the design, development and implementation of Signalling works are undertaken in accordance with MTM Safety Management System.





  • Assist the Project Manager with the preparation of scope documentation for specific activities/works and progress the engagement of the contractor/supplier, including tendering, evaluation contract award
  • Program, stage and deliver work packages to occupation programs
  • Identify work practices, methods and activities that can be altered or improved
  • Lead the detailed planning for specific project activities, as assigned by the Project Manager
  • Supervise all aspects of allocated projects in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and contractors to progress projects to implementation and commissioning
  • Administer individual packages of work on the project, as assigned by the Project Manager, through the complete project life cycle
  • Coordinate the handover process at project completion ensuring that all the key stakeholders are involved, and that project documentation is completed in accordance with procedures
  • Manage the signalling design contractor’s information and drawings, including ensuring that a current drawing register is maintained and that the documentation is issued to all the relevant parties
  • Run the RFI process ensuring that there is the appropriate technical input (from others) to the query and that there is a timely response
  • Financial and Monthly Reporting
  • Any other duties as specified by your manager



About You 


  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years experience in multi-disciplinary engineering projects including all aspects of the project life cycle including - design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover
  • Experience in Signalling
  • Ability to promote and adhere to safety guidelines and principles
  • Demonstrate a proactive and self-managed approach to work
  • Capability to manage competing demands and excellent time management and self-management skills
  • Rail Industry Worker Card including Train Track Safety Awareness (TTSA), Construction Induction (White Card)
