The Metro Level Crossing Removal Team (MLXRT) are looking for a Commercial Manager to support our ongoing program of works on the Level Crossing Removal Project!


 

About the role:

 

Lead a team that oversees the commercial management, corporate governance and risk mitigation of complex projects. 


This Commercial Manager is embedded in an Alliance and is a leadership position that reports directly to the Metro Program Manager or, an Alliance Leadership Team member.  This position manages a team across multiple functions including Procurement, Governance, Cost Control, Finance, Contracts Administration and Commercial Risk. 


These teams are made up of Metro employees fulfilling a combination of Metro’s minimum requirements as a Rail Transport Operator and Alliance specific requirements.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

•    Financial reporting and impact analysis of key commercial decisions and associated risks including impacts to project cost forecasts (risks & opportunities)
•    Presentation of commercial options in areas of contractual ambiguity or gaps 
•    Governance oversight over core MTM processes and procedures and any potential conflicts requiring resolution
•    Maximising project revenue and margin opportunities through strategic procurement, subcontractor management, providing input into Total Outturn Costs (TOC) and influence at the Alliance level
•    Ensuring all key decisions are supported by measurable commercial risk analysis including any proposed controls and mitigations
•    Strong disciplined contract management and supporting processes
•    Oversees Schedule 3 and consideration of future Opex Costs
•    Participation and successful negotiation and of any supplier and/or Alliance disputes and any other matters requiring ALT consideration and decision
•    Timely and accurate delivery of Budgets, Forecasts and cash flow reporting
•    Ensure all material risks and opportunities for improvement are escalated to the Portfolio leadership team 
•    Responding to all internal and external audit requests including the implementation of any recommendations

 

 

About You:


•    Tertiary qualification in finance/business or equivalent.
•    Min 5 years’ experience in a similar Finance / Commercial role, preferably across infrastructure projects (Road/Rail/Construction)
•    Strong experience in commercial management and corporate governance (and risk mitigation) of a complex project environment.  
•    High level of proficiency in using Word, Excel (advanced) & Outlook.
•    2-5 years’ experience leading a team.
•    Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written). 
•    Ability to strategically contribute to financial process improvements.
