About the position


We are currently looking to appoint a ROMS Application Administrator to provide the application administration, User Acceptance Testing and staff training for the Performance Reporting System (PRS), the Timetable Management System (TMS) and the Staff Management System (SMS) within the Rail Operations Management System (ROMS) for Metro Trains Melbourne. 

The Role

Your functional Responsibilities will be but not limited to;

  • Assist in the development of user training and acceptance testing and on-time implementation of changes to procedures, systems, standards and training requirements in relation to ROMS for all Metro Trains Melbourne Crew and Non-crew users including analysing and updating existing processes and procedures to accompany system releases
  • Develop system test plans/scenarios that meet the user and system specification requirements
  • Develop user reference documentation and training documentation for MTM users of ROMS/PRS
  • Ensure input is obtained within MTM and DoT, and the system providers and that the outputs from solutions providers' match MTM's requirements
  • Monitor and report on work progress of the system test plans, training, user acceptance testing, system faults regarding ROMS testing and implementation schedule
  • Provide advice and support to the day to day SMEs and system users after final acceptance for each system phase/ release
  • Provide application administration and User Support for all MTM end users of ROMS systems
  • Transform technical information into useable form with the effective use of computer software programs
  • Support the management of the system interface between TMS and TCMS to ensure the timely and accurate provision of train running data into MTM's operational control system
  • Liaise with key stakeholders within MTM and DoT, ensuring expectations are met
  • Own, govern and improve work processes and practices

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess the following;

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Systems, or related discipline or have substantial systems knowledge
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and ability
  • Experience in developing, implementing and providing operational systems administration and support to end users
  • Proven experience in business functional/ user specifications
  • Demonstrated experience in playing a key role with large project implementations using project management skills or disciplines
  • Sound knowledge of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the majority of desktop SOE products
