We’re currently seeking a Reactive Maintenance Operations Officer to join our team at the North Melbourne Depot.
The Reactive Maintenance Operations Officer plays a key role in ensuring the seamless coordination of Network Response and Reactive Maintenance activities. This position is critical to minimising train and maintainer downtime, maximising asset performance, and driving operational efficiency to support the achievement of broader organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders to streamline operations, reduce costs, and achieve maintenance objectives.
- Explore and apply approved technologies to optimise workforce and workload planning across all depot activities.
- Create, improve and manage visualisation tools, such as charts and dashboards, for distilling complex data into useful information and actionable insights. The role involves monitoring, maintaining, and improving Rolling Stock data quality and integrity, analysing data using recognized statistical methods, and advocating for data literacy to support data-driven decision-making.
- Preparation of supplier contract documentation, reports, and communications as well as coordinating correspondence, files and general inquiries.
- Manage depot rosters, notice boards and the central document library.
- Oversee and maintain RosterOn time and leave management system for accurate reflection of depot shift rosters and leave planning whilst maintaining 12-month rolling visibility.
- Complete audits on process, equipment, stock control, and safety interactions to ensure compliance.
- Manage depot inventory and equipment needs, including tooling, consumables, uniforms, and PPE, while ensuring compliance with Metro policies and procedures related to property and asset use—such as vehicles, tools, keys, and other equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills.
- Familiarity with asset management systems including Maximo, Ellipse, SAP & Hexagon and bespoke staff / roster management applications.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to present information clearly—visually, verbally, and in writing.
