The role: 

You’ll be an integral member of the Infrastructure Planning and Governance Team, using your Asset Maintenance estimation experience to provide an overarching management control and ongoing strategic analysis of infrastructure maintenance works. Works are delivered through various projects that require reimbursement for the ongoing maintenance activities from the Department of Transport.  


Working closely with the Projects, Network Development, and Infrastructure Delivery teams, as well as various stakeholders throughout the business, you’ll be required to document the proposed maintenance changes to the infrastructure assets. Critically, this includes ascertaining the financial impact using supporting information and estimation, which is then submitted for approval.  


You’ll provide subject matter expertise on Asset Maintenance Estimation into the wider Strategic Asset Management community and beyond, helping to minimise the financial risk and burden. You’ll also demonstrate strategic continuous improvement to allow safe operation of the assets and minimise infrastructure vulnerabilities.  


Position located at the E-Gate Infrastructure Depot, Docklands. 


Duties include: 

  • Provide subject matter expertise on the relevant asset costs and associated content.  

  • Actively seek and manage stakeholder expectations to ensure that the asset class estimations and associated strategic content is effectively costed, whilst identifying opportunities for the business improvements. 

  • Generate Target Cost Estimates for the MTM business (including Projects, Operations and Finance) using the MTM estimating templates. 

  • Prepare benchmarking and unit rate data and utilise as basis of Estimating where possible. 

  • Participate in estimate reviews with Estimating team including presentation of estimates. 

  • Prepare documents and reports that are necessary for the proper review of Estimating. 

  • Ensure all reports are sufficiently detailed and comprehensive such that all project relevant maintenance activities are accounted for. 

  • Liaise with all disciplines leads, program managers, project managers, procurement officers and/or project officers to collect, review and select appropriate basis of Estimating. 

  • Liaise with stakeholders within the Strategic Asset Management group to incorporate the latest data pertaining to reliability, availability, maintainability and supportability/safety. 

  • Adherence to all legislative and regulatory requirements. 

  • Work effectively and manage relationships with relevant stakeholders. 


About you: 


  • Tertiary qualification in engineering. 

  • Exposure to estimation duties within a “maintenance” environment. 

  • Relevant industry experience which involves a network of assets such as in utilities, oil & gas etc. 

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and ability. 

  • Experience in large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. 


  • Certificate IV in Training & development. 

  • Experience in using project management methodologies.
