We’re currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter for our Electrical & Mechanical Workshop, located within the Craigieburn Depot.
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of mechanical, pneumatic, and mechatronic components, ensuring maintenance and repair activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. It contributes to the achievement of organisational goals while upholding legislative and regulatory standards

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Depot Manager and Fleet Projects team to achieve Balance Scorecard objectives.
- Dis-assembly, and inspection of mechanical/pneumatic/mechatronic components.
- Examine, service, maintain, overhaul and test mechanical, pneumatic, and mechatronic components.
- Repair damaged/faulty parts by machining and welding or fabricating new parts
- Diagnose faults, assist with investigations, and address non-conformances
Qualifications & Experience
You’re a driven professional who takes accountability for your actions and is committed to delivering high-quality outcomes. You collaborate effectively, foster strong working relationships, and lead through example.
- Hold a Certificate III in Mechanical or Mechatronic Trade, or an equivalent tertiary qualification (mandatory).
- Relevant industrial experience (Airline, Military, Oilfield, Automotive, Rail, Manufacturing, maintenance) including mechatronic component maintenance, servicing, and overhaul.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and bills of material.
- Forklift operator training (preferred)
- Proven experience working effectively both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to operate confidently without direct supervision.
