About the position

You’ll join our Facilities team, working with a group of dedicated team members carrying out weed management and gardening tasks across the rail network. This is a fast-paced environment, works will be interfacing with rail operations including maintaining train stations, stabling yards, customer carparks and depots.

 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Monday – Friday, 7am-3.30pm
  • Working at various locations across the Melbourne Metro Train Network
  • Working outdoors and on the tools  

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a small gardening team, following a weekly schedule of planned and reactive maintenance working independently or alongside a Garden Maintenance Lead Hand
  • Deliver garden maintenance across large outdoor spaces, including mowing, weeding, spraying, , pruning.
  • Carry out labour intensive tasks such as extensive manual weeding, debris collection, heavy lifting.
  • Maintain garden presentation standards through proactive weed control using both manual and chemical treatment methods
  • Operate safely and efficiently outdoors in all weather conditions while keeping track of daily and weekly timelines
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including those required when working near train tracks.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in horticulture, gardening or landscaping across large outdoor areas
  • Confident operating mowers and small plant equipment
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work through high volume manual tasks
  • Understanding of weed identification and treatment methods
  • Basic iPad/portable device skills
  • Full Victorian Driver’s Licence
