About the Role 

We are seeking a Signals Safeworking CoOrdinator to support the safe planning, implementation, and control of rail safety during signalling works. This role holds primary responsibility for ensuring the safety of all Rail Safety Workers (RSWs) and maintaining effective protection from rail traffic across worksites. You will work closely with signalling, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure compliance with safe working standards and procedures. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan, implement, and certify Rail Safety Work Hazard Assessments (RSWHAs) to determine appropriate protection requirements for each worksite. 

  • Coordinate and control worksite protection personnel, ensuring hazards are identified, managed, and clearly communicated. 

  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors, signallers, train controllers, drivers, and work teams to ensure safe delivery of works. 

  • Ensure all RSWs and protection staff are competent, correctly briefed, and equipped with appropriate PPE. 

  • Deliver rail safety protection in full compliance with MTM safe working standards and procedures. 

  • Support signalling works through risk assessments, inspections, asset access planning, and safe working documentation (SWMS and safety plans). 

  • Assist with on-site activities including minor plant operation, vehicle use, inspections, labouring tasks, and coordination of site-based teams. 

 

About You 

  • Hold TFPC Level 3.1 or higher, including Enhanced Lookout modules. 

  • Inner Suburban Unrestricted competency. 

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification. 

  • Strong understanding of rail corridor risks, including mobile plant, electrocution, working at heights, and interface management. 

  • Proven ability to assess risk, follow procedures, and respond effectively to changing site conditions. 

  • Able to work collaboratively while taking accountability for safe working outcomes on site. 

  • Available to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including reasonable overtime and after-hours emergency response.
