About the role 

 

Ready to take the next step in your career? We’re on the hunt for a dynamic Production Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping depot operations by coordinating maintenance activities to enhance service reliability, efficiency, and asset availability.  You’ll lead teams, manage preventive and reactive maintenance, and ensure all work meets safety and operational standards—all while driving positive change and supporting MTM’s mission of safe, reliable rail service. 

 

  • Permanent full-time/work a 24/7 shift roster
  • Located at Epping Depot
  • Free parking on-site 

 

Key role responsibilities 

  • Ensure compliance with safety, legislative, and regulatory standards (OH&S, Rail Safety, Quality).
  • Support on-the-job training and competency assessments for maintenance staff.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update digital management systems.
  • Assist in on-the-job training for maintenance staff and provide competency assessments.
  • Participate in investigations, analysis, and workshops to improve train systems reliability.
  • Coordinate train movements for maintenance and liaise with other sites and Train Operations.
  • Lead response activities during derailments, accidents, and other incidents while ensuring timely and accurate completion of work orders and documentation.
  • Monitor staffing, shift planning, and leave schedules.
  • Drive depot performance in line with management targets. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Possess a relevant trade qualification, demonstrating a solid foundation in technical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling production or maintenance activities within a rail or industrial environment.
  • Desirable knowledge of re-railing procedures and train operational protocols, contributing to effective incident recovery and operational continuity.
  • Strong technical expertise in suburban train systems and components, including both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Possession of an STM Class 2 qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous, though not a mandatory requirement.
