We are seeking a full-time STM Mechanical to join our team on a permanent basis, based at the MTM Epping Depot.

The STM Mechanical Perform a variety of servicing, maintenance and repair tasks on suburban train fleet vehicles to support their safe, reliable and punctual operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overhaul, repair and test air‑brake system components, including performing system modifications when needed.
  • Undertake major fleet component changes and perform additional mechanical component replacements when requested.
  • Participate in multi-skilled training and activities for which you are deemed competent. 
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out to approved standards and within designated time limits, with all work properly recorded and reported.
  • Actively contribute to Metro’s Zero Harm culture by demonstrating safe behaviours, prioritising health and wellbeing, and taking responsibility for both personal and colleague safety. Promptly address any safety or environmental concerns and fulfil all Zero Harm responsibilities required at the employee level.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Trade qualified as a Mechanical Fitter.
  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ideally, you’ll have experience working in a maintenance environment and an understanding of how our operations run.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s License.
  • You will have a strong sense of accountability and a commitment to delivering high‑quality results.
  • A collaborative approach with a focus on teamwork and supporting our customers.
  • A willingness to learn and improve, with a positive attitude toward leadership, adding value, and embracing change.
