We're looking for a motivated STM Electrical to join our Kananook Depot team in a permanent, full-time role.

About the Role

As an STM Electrical, you'll play a key role in keeping Melbourne's suburban train fleet running safely and reliably by carrying out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repair activities across a range of train vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing, maintenance and repair activities on Melbourne's suburban train fleet.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults using technical drawings, diagnostic equipment and established fault-finding practices.
• Test, maintain and repair electrical systems, control circuits and fault monitoring equipment.
• Complete train modifications and component replacements in line with maintenance requirements.
• Service and maintain fleet rotating machinery and associated equipment.
• Utilise computer-based maintenance systems, diagnostic tools, and Microsoft Office applications to support daily activities.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with Metro's maintenance procedures, quality standards and work instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment within the depot.
• Accurately record and report maintenance activities, inspections and repairs.
• Respond to operational incidents and support recovery activities, including derailments, collisions and other train-related incidents when required.
• Adhere to all safety requirements and contribute to Metro's strong safety culture.
• Undertake a broad range of train maintenance activities appropriate to your skills, qualifications and level of training.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Mandatory

• A recognised trade qualification including either:
  • AQF Trade Certificate III in Electricial Fitting; or
  • AQF Trade Certificate III in Electrotechnology Technician 
• At least five years' experience in a similar electrical maintenance role.
• Proven experience working within a maintenance, manufacturing, industrial, rolling stock or heavy equipment environment.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• A commitment to safe work practices and maintaining high-quality standards.
• The flexibility to work across day, afternoon and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
• A valid Victorian Drivers Licence.

Desirable

• Experience working within the rail, rolling stock, transport or manufacturing industries.
• Exposure to electrical maintenance of complex plant, machinery or fleet assets.
• Experience using computer-based maintenance management systems and diagnostic tools.
