ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Metro Trains is seeking an Assistant Team Leader to oversee inspections, maintenance, and renewals of infrastructure assets.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversee Emergency repairs, Track maintenance, and renewals of assets; handle reports, material returns, and incident documentation.
  • Coach and develop staff, drive performance, manage rosters and training, and ensure adherence to Metro’s values and standards.
  • Plan and allocate resources efficiently, lead pre- and post-work meetings, manage procurement, and request capital items as needed.
  • Ensure all work meets Occupational Health and Safety Standards, manage high-risk activities, identify hazards, and report incidents.
  • Manage depot vehicle maintenance, tool calibration/maintenance, and material supply to support reactive and planned work

 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

For this role, you will have the following skillset:

 

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of the safety requirements of working in the rail and maintenance industry, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Codes of Practice, regulations, safe working practices and High Voltage Rules
  • Ability to undertake work shift duties, Sunday to Wednesday, 4 days per week roster and work reasonable overtime as required and respond to after hour's emergencies

 

Mandatory

 

  • Minimum 5Yrs of track renewal experience
  • Train Track Safety Awareness Certificate
  • Rail Infrastructure (Rail Maintenance) Certificate III
  • Valid Victorian drivers’ licence
  • Interested in and familiar with mechanical systems

 

Preferred

 

  • Track Force Protection Coordinator
  • TLIF2082 Perform Hand signaller duties
  • Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s license
  • First Aid Certificate Level 2
  • Licence to operate at least one of the following:
    • Loader
    • Excavator
    • Hi-Rail vehicle
