Cyber Security Engineer

The Metro Tunnel Project is being delivered in three work packages, with a program level team (RPVP) assisting each package. The three work packages are: Rail Systems Alliance, Rail Infrastructure Alliance and the Tunnels and Stations Public Private Partnership. An opportunity currently exists for Cyber Security Tester to join the Rail Systems Alliance work package. 


The Role: 
Reporting into the Cyber Security Manager, this  position exists to assist with the implementation of the RSA Cyber Security Strategy and support the RSA disciplines through engineering delivery, integration and commissioning


Responsibilities:

  • Be an active member of the RSA Engineering team responsible for overseeing the design, delivery, testing, commissioning and ultimate handover of the various Systems being delivered and modified as part of the Metro Tunnel Project Rail Systems Alliance.
  • Assis with the planning, scheduling, development and coordination of the delivery of all cyber security implementation and testing activities for the Systems being delivered and modified as part of the Project.
  • Liaise with technical teams within the Engineering and Delivery functions regarding the set-up, execution and reporting requirements for specific cyber security test procedures and test cases being undertaken throughout the Project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the wider Systems Integration & Test team to ensure all cyber security testing & verification activities are adequately documented and reported in the relevant engineering testing tools and applications used across the Project.
  • Manage cyber security risks across the Project lifecycle and document, assess and report on the security risk and compliance profiles for each each System.
  • Develop, manage delivery and review progress against plans to ensure they are on schedule and take effective remedial action as required.
  • Adhere to the relevant management plans and engineering frameworks that govern the Project delivery and reporting requirements.
  • Engage key stakeholders across the alliance teams and broader Project organisation ensuring that beneficial relationships are developed and maintained and contribute to an overall successful outcome for the Project.

 

About You:

  • Experience in rigorous security testing & verification methodologies
  • Strong technical background understanding of Windows and Linux based Operating Systems, networking (TCP/IP, Ports, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP), Switch / Router configuration, and Security
  • Working knowledge of WAN/LAN, firewalls, routers and security appliances
  • Proficiency with at least two scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash, JavaScript, PowerShell) and the ability to develop custom scripts, exploits and tools
  • Working knowledge of Identification and Authentication schemes, Public Key Infrastructure and Identity Management
  • Working knowledge of penetration testing using standard penetration testing tools (Metasploit, Nmap, Nessus, Burp Suit, etc)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and interpersonal characteristics, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Sound analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using engineering-based requirements management and testing tools (DOORS, RQM)
  • Sound analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
