About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to lead the Schedule 3 Contract Variation program that drives the commercial resolution of claims between MTM and Department of Transport per contract requirements. The position relies heavily upon having close working relationships with DTP and MTM operational business areas. In this role you’ll combine commercial strategic skills, applying a forward thinking mindset whilst also to ensure that all day-to-day activities are achieved. Whilst our program is established, this role will continue focus on improving the internal business process, challenging solutions to attain required outcomes and enhancing integration across the business
Please note this is a fixed-term opportunity for 12 months, based out of our Collins St Office.
Key Responsibilities
- You’ll lead the end-end management of Variation (Schedule 3) claims including the preparation, submission, negotiation, and closure.
- Provide strong commercial and contractual advice to internal stakeholders relating to this contract mechanism and particularly to claims requiring support to resolve.
- Identify and implement process improvements across variation management workflows and tools.
- Track, monitor, and provided detailed reporting on the performance and health of the Variation program of work
- Work closely with Finance variation teams to support them to establish accurate forecasting, accruals, and reporting of variation impacts.
- You’ll communicate with influence and build effective stakeholder relationships (internal and external)
- Maintain an excellent working relationship with Department of Transport – contract variation team counterparts.
- Provide strategic commercial support to senior Management to assist with broader function planning and activities.
- You’ll proactively identify commercial risks to ensure that all emerging issues are resolved early.
Qualifications
- Tertiary Qualification in Business Management, Law, Commerce or equivalent discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with senior internal and external stakeholders and negotiating favourable outcome in a commercial and financial environment.
- Extensive experience in contracts and commercial management.
- Strong people management and collaboration skills
- Be self-driven and demonstrate skills in identifying issues, independently manage all resources to achieve the required outcomes, and utilise analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to present complex data and information clearly and directly to all stakeholders.
- Experience in designing, implementing and continuously improving business processes.
- Good understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
- Manage all aspects of the role independently and report on financial impacts, risks and issues.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
