About the role


As Communications Manager you will lead the Metro Tunnel Readiness team of two and provide strategic and quality advice to Metro’s key stakeholders including the Department of Transport, Metro Tunnel Project Office and project partners, as well as internal business divisions.


In this high-impact role, you’ll shape and deliver outstanding, passenger-focused communication strategies that support one of Victoria’s most significant transport infrastructure projects.


This is a max term contract opportunity until the end of February 2026, based at 628 Bourke St Street with a hybrid work arrangement of three days in the office. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Act as a primary liaison with key stakeholders and delivery partners to develop and deliver communications plans across readiness, opening, and post-opening phases of the Metro Tunnel Project.
  • Lead collaboration with Metro’s Corporate Affairs division and internal teams to deliver integrated marketing, digital, media, and corporate responsibility initiatives.
  • Manage stakeholder and media engagement opportunities, including content development, photography, and videography for major project milestones.
  • Support communication and stakeholder requirements for MTP Trial Operations, working closely with transformation and disruptions communications teams.

 

About you

 

  • A communications and stakeholder generalist, comfortable working across a range of Corporate Affairs functions.
  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or equivalent work experience
  • Significant experience in senior communications, media or stakeholder relations positions and leading teams within a complex and multi-stakeholder environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience in influencing others to achieve successful outcomes
  • Strong experience delivering on communication strategies and plans while balancing needs of all involved stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver a range of communications materials for different audiences across all channels including digital and social media
