About the role
This is a newly created position for a Depot Manager, at our brand-new maintenance facility in Kananook. We are seeking an energetic and driven leader, eager to embrace this exciting challenge and lead with enthusiasm. With Kananook maintaining both the XT100 and XT2 train fleets, you will have overall management of 30 head count, when at full capacity. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, efficient, and reliable operation to support both morning and evening activities.
Beyond daily operations, this role drives strategic continuous improvements, aligning maintenance with organizational goals, alongside fostering collaboration, high performance and an environment to sustain operational success. In addition to overseeing daily operations, this role will lead strategic continuous improvements, ensuring maintenance aligns with organizational objectives, whilst promoting teamwork, encouraging high performance, and cultivating an environment that ensures long-term operational success.

Key role responsibilities
- Managing a multidisciplinary team, including supervisors, maintainers, administrative staff, and stores personnel
- End deliver of safe, clean, and reliable trains for daily passenger service
- Workforce coordination and resource allocation
- Monitoring of maintenance operations to meet service requirements demonstrated through business-led key performance indicators
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and strong alignment with MTM’s values and behaviours
- Strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and industrial consultation with an end goal of a flexible and sustainable workforce that can adapt to future network changes
- Oversight of depot budgets to maximize efficiency and deliver the best value for the business
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 + years demonstrable success in leading teams in a high-pressure reactive environment, OR; 10 years + rail experience in a supervisory or management role successfully leading large diverse teams, OR; Graduate / post graduate level engineering, management or associated business degree
- Knowledge and experience of risk / safety management in an operational environment
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of data acquisition, processing and application across maintenance systems
- Core strengths in communication, team building and mentoring / coaching
- A natural problem solver
- Experience of industrial relations matters
