Duty Manager - 24/7 roster

The role:

Duty Managers supervise and coordinate the Electrol, Signals and Track / Structures Control functions and associated staff to ensure a coordinated and efficient incident response service and planned works facilitation, is in accordance with the Rules and Operating Procedures that govern our industry. Further to this you will ensure all faults and incidents are communicated efficiently and effectively to the wider business and our passengers. Experience working in a high pressure environment and strong stakeholder management skills are essential for this role:

Due to the MTM Fault centre operating a 24 hour service, this role has a unique roster. The roster rotates through a 4 on 4 off cycle, which includes days and nights on each and including some weekends.

Roster details below:

  • Day roster x 2 -   7am - 7pm
  • Night roster x 2 - 7pm to 7am
  • 4 day break
  • Repeat

Main duties:

  • Coordinate the Reactive Incident response teams to ensure sufficient resources are deployed in a timely manner to minimise delays for passengers on the network.
  • Communicate effectively to Field staff, Metrol and Senior Management team in an effective timely manner
  • Oversee the Fault Officers to ensure that they perform their functions in accordance with the Rules and Operating Procedures and Supplementary Instructions To support the Track and Structures fault centre if required to ensure DTRS calls are dealt with in a timely manner To lead weekend Infrastructure communications and be the single point of contact, in addition to represent Infrastructure on weekend conference calls for performance updates.
  • Provide service performance statistics and documentation to meet Infrastructure requirements

Skills and experience:

  • Supervisory experience - desirable
  • Experience within a fault centre or call centre - desirable
  • Rail operations experience, including supervision of operating personnel – desirable
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of ingenuity, initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills
  • Ability to use MS Office computer programs with proficient knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
