About the role
Our Rolling Stock division is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Fitter who has exceptional attention to detail and integrity in their work. This role will be working in accordance with Metro’s procedures and policies, along with legislative and regulatory requirements to be part of the delivery for a roll-out of the fleets door locking systems.
This is a max-term 7-month contract based out of our Craigieburn Maintenance Depot, reporting to the Electrical and Mechanical workshop manager, and working closely with fleet maintenance engineers to deliver this effectively. Successful applicants are required to work Monday to Friday, day shift only while paid under the Rolling Stock Enterprise Agreement.
Key role responsibilities
- Control Panel assembly, wiring, inspection and testing
- Examine, service, maintain, overhaul and test electrical, electronic, and mechatronic components
- Correctly use and maintain the tools of the trade including power tools, test equipment and measuring instruments
- Diagnose and repair faults, assist with investigations and non-conformances
- Read and interpret electrical specifications, wiring and circuit drawings
- Accurately complete electronic and paper documentation including timesheets, test record sheets and any other specific documentation
- Use technical data and information to assist with fault finding
- Perform any other duties as specified by manager
Qualifications & Experience
- Appropriate Certificate III in Electrical fitting or A Grade licence with relevant 5 + years’ experience desired
- You must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Prior experience working with control panel assembly, wiring and inspection testing is required
- Previous experience within a maintenance environment is preferred
- Demonstrated expertise within either a rail/manufacturing environment
