Monday-Friday 7:00-3:30, overtime and night shift available.
The role will involve ensuring that power is available within the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop in order to maintain train running. This is accomplished by the performance of preventative and reactive maintenance, renewals, installations and other tasks.
Main duties:
- Contribute to the achievement of KPIs and the technical maintenance plan.
- Monitor, assess, and report on the performance of power systems and equipment to support quality processes.
- Ensure materials and resources are available for safe, efficient, and timely maintenance activities.
- Perform basic testing, installations, measurements, and fault investigations following established procedures; assist with more complex installations under guidance.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, renewals, and installations on high- and low‑voltage equipment, ensuring all electrical work meets Australian Standards.
- Dismantle, assemble, clean, lubricate, adjust, or repair electrical components across the MTM network.
- Use sound judgement to resolve issues in line with regulations, departmental policies, and safe‑working practices.
- Complete Risk Assessments and provide required safety documentation.
Skills and experience:
- Qualified Electrical Tradesperson with a current A‑Class Electrical Licence.
- Experience as an electrician in the construction industry or in an environment of similar scale and complexity.
- Ability to interpret and work confidently with complex electrical drawings and circuitry.
- Strong knowledge of the OHS&E Act, Codes of Practice, AS3000:2000, safety regulations, and quality assurance requirements.
- A current Victorian manual driver’s licence.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.
