Enterprise System Specialist

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is responsible for managing and optimising Metro’s Enterprise IT infrastructure and information systems, including their development, operation, and maintenance. 
Working within a team of engineers, the position supports multiple platforms across enterprise and operational technology environments, ensures alignment across systems, and collaborates with our internal teams and external vendors. The position also drives continuous improvement by assessing technology performance, ensuring systems remain current, efficient, and compliant with our best practices and security standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a new role reporting into the Systems Engineering Team Lead, the role has the following key areas of responsibility.
•    Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and application teams to design and implement optimal ICT infrastructure solutions 
•    Administer and support enterprise infrastructure across cloud, and hybrid environments (e.g. Windows Server, Azure, M365, virtualisation, networking) 
•    Monitor, maintain, and optimise system performance, availability, and capacity, including patching and vulnerability management 
•    Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues, incidents, and service requests, ensuring timely and effective outcomes 
•    Lead and support infrastructure improvements, migrations, and continuous optimisation aligned to best practices and security standards 
•    Engage with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver BAU operations, project work, and ensure service quality
•    Participate in on-call support (as required)

ABOUT YOU

Key requirements:

•    Extensive experience across enterprise ICT infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and virtualisation (vendor-agnostic) 
•    Ability to lead and collaborate effectively, communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels, and manage competing priorities 
•    Strong expertise in Active Directory / Entra ID, including Group Policy and Intune management 
•    Proven experience with cloud platforms (Azure essential, AWS desirable) and Microsoft 365 administration 
•    Solid understanding of IP networking, with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills 
•    Ability to lead and collaborate effectively, communicate with stakeholders at all levels, and manage competing priorities 
•    Relevant qualifications or certifications in IT, with additional experience in *nix systems and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform) desirable
