Your New Role


The Supplier Commercial Analyst is one of many new roles available at Metro Trains Melbourne. This is an exciting time to make a change and be a part of a new team.


As key team member of the Supplier Commercial Management Team, the Supplier Commercial Analyst’s role purpose is to support the Head of Supplier Commercial Management and the wider team in providing analyst, review and provide recommendations in supplier commercial management.

Functional Responsibilities


  • Co-ordinate, aggregate and analyse contract data and provide fact-based recommendations.
  • Analysing contract clauses, stipulations, obligations, and liabilities.
  • Provide lead indicators of potential disputes and financial risks.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and accuracy of Metro Trains Melbourne supplier risk profile and the contract management database.
  • Liaise with the Team and business units in validate information provided in recommendation papers.
  • Responsible for keeping the Team abreast of market and new development in connection to suppliers or category of spend to ensure that Metro Trains Melbourne risk exposure have been timely identified, captures assessed and treated.
  • Analyse market data received and provide email updates within the business.
  • Keeping informed of amendments to contract law.
  • Responsible to ensure that the business unit contract management team is compliant to the outputs required to be compliant with the Contract Management Framework.
  • Responsible for flash reporting to keep the Team and stakeholder updated on key metrics.
  • Support to Procurement in the pre-award activities including the tendering and contract negotiations


Your skills and experience


  • Bachelors or master's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, legal or related field
  • Proven at least 5 years relevant experience in contract/commercial analyst role
  • Demonstrated effective influencing and negotiation skills, along with excellent, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience working in an environment that required the interpreting and applying complex organisational frameworks and policies.
  • Experienced around understanding of legislation and understand the commercial implications.
  • Program management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of project planning techniques with evidence of practical application.
