About the role

Due to amazing growth, MTMs Registered Training Organisation (RTO) – Metro Academy – is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for Training Officer roles in the Safely Working In the Rail Corridor (SWIRC) space.

There are multiple opportunities - both permanent full time and part time. Reporting to the Rail Safety Senior Training Lead, these roles will deliver content and manage the assessment process in accordance with the requirements of the rail safety training program, business objectives, statutory and regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.

As an MTM employee, you will have access to free travel along the network.  

 


Accountabilities 

The key responsibilities of a Training Officer will include but not be limited to: 

  • Deliver Safeworking training to the internal and external stakeholders for the MTM business.
  • Deliver SWIRC training to the internal and external stakeholders to the MTM business and the respective renewal requirements as part of MTM business requirements.
  • Maintain existing and develop new courseware in line with business policy and procedures as well as Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards for the delivery of accredited and non-accredited Safeworking training.
  • Manage the relationship with the learner (internal MTM business and third party contractors).
  • Assess learners in line with business policy and procedures as well as Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards.


Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in:

  • Experience working in a similar role, developing and delivering safety related content is preferred
  • Units of competence as follows will be considered: TLIF2080 Safely access the rail corridor , TLIF2081 Perform lookout duties or TLIF2082 Perform hand signaller duties
  • Experience working on track in the Safeworking space on the MTM network is preferred. (Other Accredited Rail Operator’s will be considered if the above competencies are held).
  • Experience working in construction will be highly regarded
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 (TAE40110 with willingness to upgrade to TAE40116) is desirable, or willing to undertake.
