Your new role

This newly created role is a key part of the Supplier Commercial Management team. The Senior Supplier Commercial Manager’s role is to manage a team to provide support to the Centre of Excellence Portfolio across the Metro Trains Melbourne supply chain base.

Functional Responsibilities

 

  • Provide guidance to the Contract Delivery Managers within their business unit and act as an escalation point. 
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance by the Contract Delivery Managers and Contract Managers with the Contract Management Framework and coordinating corrective actions with the supplier if required.
  • Ensure the agreed commercial outcome is achieved including the most cost-effective ways to comply with contractual obligations.
  • Supporting the business in designing robust controls to mitigate business risks and meeting compliance requirements from contract management and sourcing perspectives.
  • Support training and coaching on compliance and contract management in conjunction with Supplier Governance and Compliance team
  • Assist Procurement with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Category Management strategies, and ensure that any proposed contract variations or extensions are communicated in a timely manner and incorporated into the overarching strategy.
  • Facilitate innovation opportunities from Metro’s suppliers’ base to support delivery of Metro’s strategic objectives.
     

Your skills and experience

 

  • Proven 5-7 years relevant experience in a senior management or team leader position in supplier negotiations and contract and commercial management.
  • Strong financial/ commercial acumen and be able to negotiate with suppliers for the optimal outcome.
  • Demonstrate effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control.
  • Demonstrated understanding of legislation and ability to provide advice on commercial commitments
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply complex organisational frameworks and policies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement abilities
