General Manager Network Performance

About the position

In this key position you will report into the COO. Working in a complex operational and stakeholder environment, you and your team will be responsible for understanding and defining the causes of, and opportunities to, improve the performance of Metro’s network. You will own and provide a continuous improvement focus towards Metro’s Annual Performance Improvement Plan (APIP). You will also be required to influence and implement performance opportunities to ensure the delivery of passenger services across the network. In this role you will work closely with a variety of internal and senior external stakeholders.  This is a great opportunity to embed a culture of excellence in passenger satisfaction and deliver a safe, passenger focused and efficient train service.

About You

To ensure success in this role you will possess:

• Extensive senior executive experience in a world class rail operation
• Demonstrated ability to deliver railway network performance improvements in a complex operating environment
• Experience in the public transport industry, and understanding of the major change programs being delivered by government to shape the Melbourne railway
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in a business, project, engineering or similar field is desirable
• Formal training and certification in program or project management (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, Agile/Scrum) is desirable
• Formal training and certification in Change Management (e.g. PROSCI) is desirable
• Strong financial acumen, including solid project financial management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing projects in a matrix style environment without direct lines of accountability
• Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication with a strong ability to read the needs of the audience
• Driven to deliver at pace and whilst ensuring that agreed processes are followed
• Continuous improvement mindset that drives speed of delivery and operational efficiency
• Experience working in asset intensive industries with a strong focus on safety
