High Voltage Trainer

Main duties:

The Electrical Networks Trainer (Overhead and Substations) will be responsible for facilitating contemporary learning within the business including teaching and assessing participants and developing learning materials in the program area.
MTM are seeking a passionate and personable trainer with a strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.

Please note: A high voltage operating qualification is essential to be successful in this role. Rail industry, qualifications O1, T1, S1 and I1 is preferred.

Main duties:

  • Apply safe working rules and regulations to High Voltage situations
  • Apply WHS responsibilities, activities and actions to students as an ongoing and integral component of all workshop activities
  • Appraise requirements and make recommendations in respect to work methods and techniques
  • Conduct learning programs and determine instructional and assessment strategies to suit a range of student, client needs and industry contexts
  • Develop a range of educational services including learning resources, and apply techniques of recognition of prior learning
  • Implement overhead maintenance requirements and installation methods
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment in accordance with Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)
  • Standards
  • Manage the learning process and facilitate individual student learning by providing advice on strategies to overcome learning difficulties and /or by referral to specialist services as appropriate
  • Participate in meetings, external networks, professional development and other activities relevant to the role as directed by the
  • Plan and analyse training needs and coordinate training for a diverse multi-skilled work group
  • Provide advice to prospective students on course choice and to students on course progression, learning strategies and related issues
  • Provide authoritative advice to stakeholders in relation to learning needs of students and training needs of employers
  • Research, develop and customise learning materials suitable for a range of teaching and learning settings and a range of students and industry clients
  • Teach a broad range of subject areas in Transport and Logistics within Apprentices, Pre-apprentices and VET students Undertake a range of administrative, coordination and learning services activities directly related to the areas taught Undertake assessment of student performance in accordance with the requirements of the relevant curriculum and training package

Education, skills and experience:

  • Degree, diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification/s relevant to the programs to be taught in the business
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE16), or a willingness to enrol in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and to complete the qualification within a 12 month period
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to professional development and maintaining currency of skills including a willingness to undertake further formal education
  • High Voltage qualifications O1, T1, S1 and I1 as applied in the rail industry
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written) Ability to follow occupational health, safety and environmental procedures in the rail industry
