ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an ICT System Administrator to join our team, supporting critical infrastructure systems and software platforms across Metro’s environment.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability and performance of our ICT landscape through a mix of BAU support, proactive maintenance, and reactive incident resolution. You’ll work closely with system engineers and support teams while coordinating on-premises facilities maintenance works with support providers.
Internal or secondment opportunity until 30th June 2027, potentially with room for extension.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting into the Systems Engineering Team Lead, the role has the following key areas of responsibility.
• Provide BAU support, resolving incidents and fulfilling service requests
• Administer on-premises and cloud-based platforms
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across data centre facilities
• Execute Start-of-Day checks, documenting outcomes and addressing issues
• Liaise with vendors, support providers, and internal teams to resolve issues
• Ensure compliance with Change Management processes
• Maintain accurate records in ITSM and governance tools
• Participate in on-call support and escalation (as required)
ABOUT YOU
Key requirements:
• Enterprise experience supporting Windows Server and Desktop environments
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
• Understanding of AD / Entra ID concepts
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
• Familiarity with data centre operations and best practices
Desirable:
• Relevant IT qualifications or certifications
• Experience with Azure or AWS
• Exposure to virtualisation platforms (VMware / Hyper-V)
• Knowledge of automation and PowerShell scripting
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop / Remote Desktop Services
