In this position you will assist the Signal Fault Officer providing frequent communications between the Signal Fault Centre and key stakeholders.


You will also provide added technical assistance to the signal fault officer which in turn will provide for added support to field staff attending to signal faults. As well as supporting signals you will also be involved in supporting the infrastructure division with preparing Incident Reports.
 

This position is based at 595 Collins Street working Monday to Friday on rotating shifts (0530-1300 and 1200-2000).

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support Signal Fault Officers and Integrated Fault Manager in diagnosing and managing signal failures.

  • Compile and maintain fault data, PRS reports, and signalling plans.

  • Act as the primary contact for senior management during major incidents, providing real-time updates.

  • Track and report start/finish times and site arrivals for SMTs and contractors.

  • Communicate detailed fault information (e.g. Asset ID, failure mode, resolution times) to relevant stakeholders.

  • Assist in preparing Infrastructure Incident Reports and supporting Infrastructure Fault Review meetings.

 

About you

 

  • Associate Diploma of Engineering (Electronics) or equivalent qualification 

  • Accredited as a Signals & Communications Officer and completed a Supervisory Skills Course

  • Strong technical knowledge of high voltage signalling systems, rail operations, and risk management.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels and prepare written documentation.

  • Skilled in conducting audits, managing action plans, and adhering to safety/environmental procedures.

  • Proficient in administrative systems, scheduling work priorities, and using Microsoft Office Suite.
