About the Role

 

This role helps shape and safeguard the systems and data that keep Melbourne's train network running. You’ll be a trusted technical expert, helping the organisation understand and adopt integration best practices, solve complex problems at the intersection of enterprise IT and operational technology, and ensure that the integrations you own are reliable, secure, and built to last. You will work across a modern cloud integration platform (Boomi, Solace, AWS and Azure) as part of a team that takes pride in the quality and resilience of what it delivers.

 

 

The successful candidate will bring proven experience designing and developing integrations using iPaaS (preferably Boomi) and cloud integration technologies, with an ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for a range of business stakeholders. They will be comfortable guiding the organisation’s understanding of integration architecture and best practices.

This is a full‑time, permanent role based at 700 Collins Street, Docklands, with hybrid working arrangements available.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, configure, build, test, deploy and manage integration solutions based on Solace and Boomi in cloud hosted environment.
  • Take accountability of end-to-end integration solution from source to destination and collaborate effectively with architects and other system owners to ensure a stable, secure, and reliable integration is delivered and maintained.
  • Apply Integration best practices by ensuring adherence to defined integration platform patterns / processes and design standards.
  • Document technical designs and solutions.
  • Support Integration platform lead in analysing, estimating, and costing new requirements and with prioritisation and planning of team’s activities and platform roadmap.
  • Liaise with business and technical stakeholders/teams to understand requirements, resolve issues and dependencies and support project managers with scheduling, costing, and tracking risks, issues, and progress. 
  • Contribute to the IT Service Management of Boomi Solace platform, and the APIs/Integrations deployed on the platforms which includes 24/7 on-call rosters, incident management, problem management, monitoring and routine and reactive maintenance ensuring minimum disruption to business operations.
  • Liaise with support services and product vendors to ensure adequate levels of monitoring and ongoing support of the integration processes, including ongoing software releases, patching and software upgrades for the optimal running of the integration platforms.
  • Ensure SLA adherence both through internal support and vendor management against committed SLA.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

 

  • Tertiary studies in a Software Engineering/ Computer Science or equivalent disciplines.
  • Experience working in Azure or AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash) and API design and testing tools (OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman)
  • Experience building tools or automations that connect systems or data sources, whether that’s Excel with Power Query or macros, SharePoint workflows, scripts or any solution where moving data from one place to another
  • Understanding of how MTMs operational and business systems fit together. You know how data flows between systems, where pain points are and why getting the data right matters for the network.
  • Worked with structured data formats or protocols e.g. pulling data from APIs, working with CSV/XML/JSON exports, automating file transfers or querying databases
  • Comfortable communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You have translated between business needs and technical solutions, or written documentation on technical solutions that is in-use.
