The role:

The MTM Infrastructure Management Accountant is accountable for implementing processes and systems to monitor and report on all Infrastructure Services financial activity and support the delivery of Project works, in a cost-effective manner and within agreed budgets.  The successful applicant will develop and implement regular reporting to deliver transparency to Alliances and Project portfolios, on costs and charges in relation to the forecast and actual utilisation of Project resources.

The ideal applicant will achieve strong results through efficient use of resources and a commitment to quality outcomes.

This permanent full time position is located at the MTM Infrastructure Depot, E-Gate, West Melbourne

Main duties:

  • Develop and implement effective budget and forecasting tools;
  • Develop and implement processes to monitor costing and utilisation of Project resources;
  • Reconcile utilisation rates of Project resources according to agreed time frames; 
  • Perform cyclical rate reconciliations to recover costs of Project resources in accordance with the agreed financial framework;
  • Financial work order management and reporting; 
  • Implement process to ensure Infrastructure Services is compliant with all financial regulatory obligations;
  • Undertake financial reporting and analysis on portfolios forecast and actual financial performance;
  • Identify opportunities and act to continually improve financial processes for Infrastructure Services;
  • Develop and implement all required regulatory reporting e.g. Fatigue and Major Project Skills Guarantee;
  • Any other duties as specified by manager.

Education, skills and experience:

Mandatory:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting related discipline with CA / CPA or equivalent status; 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and ability;
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years in a Management Accountant position.

Preferred:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience in using project management methodologies;
