About the Role
As Supplier Governance & Compliance Manager, you will support the Head of Supplier Governance, Reporting & Analytics in providing oversight of governance and compliance across Metro’s supply chain. You’ll execute compliance programs to ensure Procurement, Commercial Managers, and Contract Delivery Managers adhere to MTM’s Procurement policies, Contract Management Framework, relevant legislation, and compliance obligations.
Reporting directly to the Head of Supplier Governance, Reporting & Analytics, you’ll thrive in an environment where you can build processes from the ground up, be hands-on, and make a lasting impact in this enterprise-wide role.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Head of SGRA to shape and uplift Metro’s procurement and contract management practices.
- Maintain, review, and continuously improve procurement and contract management policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Develop and deliver training and coaching on compliance, probity, and contract management to relevant stakeholders.
- Execute the Governance & Compliance Assurance Program, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, safety rules, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead compliance and risk management activities, critically analyse risk assessments, and devise targeted mitigation plans and supporting frameworks.
- Assist with ad-hoc investigative work on supplier compliance, whistleblower disclosures, and supplier complaint resolution.
- Drive continuous improvement and support AI-powered compliance initiatives.

The ideal candidate will:
- Work closely with diverse stakeholders, leveraging extensive experience in contract and procurement audits.
- Deliver impactful stakeholder training to support effective policy rollout.
About You
- Tertiary qualification- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, legal, information systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in governance, risk, assurance or supply chain compliance (first, second, or third line of defence).
- Significant experience auditing contract management, sourcing processes, and supplier development/management.
- Deep understanding of procurement and contract management methodologies, or 5+ years’ experience in Procurement or Supply Chain.
- Strong financial/commercial acumen, analytics skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Relevant industry and supply chain market knowledge, with an understanding of risk and compliance in complex organizations.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP ARIBA, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently, lead and mentor others, and partner effectively with line management.
