Your new role:

This newly created role is a key part of the Procurement & Supply Chain -Centre of Excellence Portfolio. The Supplier Governance & Compliance Manager’s role is to assist the Head of Supplier Governance and Compliance in providing oversight  on contract management framework, governance and compliance  across the Metro Trains Melbourne supply chain base.


Throughout your employment, you will report to the Head of Supplier Governance & Compliance, who envisions the successful candidate will thrive in an environment where they build things from the ground up, are hands on and make their mark at Metro in this enterprise reaching role.

Key functions:

  • Assist the Head of Supplier Governance & Compliance – Procurement & Supply Chain to improve the maturity of MTM’s contract management practices.
  • Maintain, review and improve contract management framework and related policies and procedures
  • Conduct skill gap analysis and provide training and coaching on compliance and contract management to the required parties
  • Execute Governance & Compliance Assurance Programme to ensure the business units are adhering to policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
  • Assist the Head of Supplier Governance & Compliance on ad-hoc investigative work on contract management and supply chain and probity reviews for inflight sourcing and procurement events.
  • Assist with third party audits, procurement audits, investigations and compliance reviews relating to Procurement & Supply Chain.
  • Continuous Improvement and Transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of procurement and contract management 

Skills and capability:

If you would describe yourself as a self-starter, with solid project management skills then this role is for you.

The ideal person would be required to work closely with multiple stakeholders, using extensive experience in contract and procurement audits, and the delivery of stakeholder training to support effective policy roll out. 

About you:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, legal, information systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in governance, risk and assurance functions (first, second line or third of defence).
  • Significant experience in auditing contract management, sourcing and processes and supplier development or management
  • An understanding of procurement and contract management methodologies or hold 5+ years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain.
  • Good appreciation of analytics and financial principles
  • Relevant industry and supply chain market knowledge and understanding of risk and compliance within a complex and diverse organisation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on unambiguous and concise communications.
  • Strong stakeholder and engagement ability
  • Strong change management, ability to engage stakeholders, workshop ideas and bring people together.
  • Experience in auditing contract management, probity of sourcing and procurement processes, supplier development / management.
