The position:

Reporting to the Head of Safety, Environment and Quality (SEQ), this position will provide SEQ assistance to Metro Trains Melbourne Rolling Stock Maintenance facilities and sidings in line with legislation, company policies and procedures.
• Support to line and site management in controlling risks, and implementing opportunities for all WHS matters
• Lead and facilitate OH&S investigations
• Plan and conduct OH&S meetings, including taking minutes, agreeing actions and following up to ensure agreed actions are completed by responsible parties
• Conduct daily safety walks and safety interactions at our Depots
• Assist in the development of risk assessments and safe work instructions, and ensure these remain current

Your experience:

• Tertiary Qualification in Health and Safety or a Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety
• ICAM investigation qualification and internal audit qualification
• Proven work experience within an SEQ, HSEQ, QSE or equivalent position within a rail/transport or infrastructure environment
• Experience utilising Quality, Safety, Environment management systems

The success of this role will be due to your ability to engage with multi-disciplinary stakeholders across the business. Facilitating required changes will require continual problem solving with some solutions you’ll provide yourself while others will be solved in consultation. Above all you are passionate about safety and do not fear having at times, challenging conversations as part of your consultative approach.
