Metro is looking for Night Track Inspectors for our Bell depot!

You must have rail experience and have the passion to work for a large reputable company and forge a long term career.

 

You will be responsible for the inspection of an allocated section of track, under the supervision of the Mobile Ganger. Your role is to complete visual inspections to monitor rail wear, record faults and report track condition from site, via mobile reporting tool.

 

This is a permanent night shift role 2200 – 0600 Sunday – Thursday (subject to change with business maintenance requirements)

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Mobile Ganger, patrol and submit detailed reports on items requiring renewal or maintenance work of rail infrastructure.
  • Provide assistance to outside bodies working on Metro property and ensure their works do not affect the safety of the rail infrastructure.
  • Be responsible for the proper inspection of the allotted length under the direction of the Mobile Ganger.
  • Complete all necessary reports, material returns, timesheets, requisitions, claim forms etc.
  • Ensure that all work is inspections is in accordance with the appropriate Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Regulations.
  • Have a high regard to attendance and timekeeping.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience:

 

  • Current driver’s license and appropriate endorsements.
  • Cert II  in  rail  essential
  • Cert III desirable
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills to identify and comprehend Safeworking and Work Instructions and to undertake further AQF competency based training.
  • Rail Safety competency and Medical Assessment for this position is in accordance with Metro's Medical Policy.
  • Must be prepared to work Day or Night Shift as required- flexibility required
  • Must be available to work reasonable overtime, including emergency overtime.
