About the Role


The OCMS Engineer will be responsible for Engineering Assurance activities that cover Operational Control and Management Systems (OCMS) including but not limited to CCTV, Passenger Information, Public Address, Customer Help Points, Security and Access control, Enterprise Systems and network interfacing.
You will perform detailed engineering reviews and validation of Designs and As In Service (As Built) drawings together with other artefacts that are issued for review by projects.



  • Review of designs relating to new OCMS as well as the proposed changes to the existing OCMS and their interface with other network control systems to check if the designs/documentation are compliant with MTM requirements and standards.
  • Provide engineering services as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Operational Control and Management Systems (OCMS) and their interface to other network control systems in a suburban rail environment.
  • Assess the migration/deployment strategies for new OCMS equipment to assess risk and ensure minimal potential for disruption to the Operational Control Systems.
  • Participate in Design/Safety-in-Design workshops to contribute OCMS engineering expertise and practical knowledge that enables project team designers to optimise their designs with respect to safety and integration.
  • Review As-Built drawings for accuracy and compliance with relevant standards to assist projects in meeting project requirements.

About You



  • Degree or certification in Telecommunications or a related engineering field (such as electronics/electrical, computer systems/networking, etc.), or equivalent work-related technical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in rail-based management/ design and/or maintenance of OCMS infrastructure, with specific experience in OCMS installations and sound knowledge of applicable standards.
  • Proven ability to read technical documentation and drawings and confirm compliance to relevant standards and specifications.
  • Experience in OT/IT technical environments and in the application of the relevant standards, contractual obligations and legislative frameworks.
