OCS Design Reviewer

We are currently seeking an Operational Control Systems (OCS) Design and Review Engineer to work within the Level Crossing Review Group (LXRG). The LXRG group reviews all design and as built packages on behalf of MTM across the LXRP portfolio. 

The role: 

As an OCS Design and Review Engineer you will be required to provide engineering expertise, support and coordination required FOR LXRG to deliver its technical objectives and requirements for Signalling Design. 

This role will provide engineering oversight of the project to satisfy the obligations and requirements of the MTM “Safety Management System” (SMS) and “Engineering Management System” (EMS) as tailored for the project.

This is a full-time permanent role, based in Melbourne’s CBD. 

Please note that working from home arrangements are currently in place due to COVID-19, this will be reviewed when restrictions ease. 

Accountabilities:

•    Work with the Engineering Manager, Design & Review Managers and Document Controllers to ensure timely review of design packages, and Requests for Information (RFI).
•    Ensure that all design reviews are conducted in accordance with MTM's Safety Management System, preparing and maintaining assurance evidence as required under the Rail Safety National Law. 
•    Assist the Design & Review Manager to undertake quality and performance analysis
•    Prepare status reports based on data from Team Binder, project Design Lot Registers (DLR), LXRP programs and forecast information, and Comment Review Sheets (CRS).
•    Work with the Project Officer to prepare and manage budgets for design reviews, and prepare regular financial status reports.
•    Work with the Design Review Managers and Engineers, and As-Built Review Manager to prepare and expedite the clearance of review comments.
•    Manage internal and external stakeholders on critical issues affecting the project, working towards the most appropriate course of action that meets objectives.

Desired qualifications, skills and experience:

•    Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
•    Qualification in Operational Control Systems in a railway environment will be considered favourably.
•    At least 7 years’ experience in design.
•    Experience in the management and/or maintenance of rail infrastructure on rail based projects.
•    Experience and knowledge in preparing reports. 
•    Ability to estimate and implement direct costing to user briefs, technical requirements and safety.
•    Ability to communicate to staff at all levels (verbal and written), and to negotiate preferred outcomes.
•    Experiencing in using Team Binder, SharePoint and good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (in particular Excel and Project)
