About the role:

The Operational Technology Network and Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for performing ongoing maintenance, administration, configuration and operation of OCMS Systems & Networks and associated support services to ensure they deliver the required level of performance to support the uninterrupted operation of train services.

 

The position is responsible for providing technical support and technical delivery capabilities to both internal and external stakeholders and supporting the Networks & Infrastructure Manager to maintain the effective operation of the above OCMS Systems. This is a 24 month maximum term opportunity.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Carrying out support and enhancement works on MTM’s Operational Control Systems and Network Infrastructure, with a focus on the Signalling Systems space, as well as conduct systems engineering activities on related interfacing systems and networks as applicable.
  • Liaise with professional and technical staff regarding setting up appropriate hardware, software and operating system environments (including virtualisation), carry out integration tasks, perform data configuration, as well as complex problem resolution.
  • Responsible for ensuring network designs are future proofed and enable ease of maintenance and monitoring
  • Responsible for System and Network Configuration and Administration, including diagnostics and trouble shooting.
  • Responsible for assisting with the development and adherence to an OCMS Security Policy framework.
  • Responsible for change management for the introduction of new technology including engineering change, risk management, training and documentation.
  • The applicant will be required to participate in a standby by / call-out support roster

 

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Telecommunications, Computer Systems, Software Systems) or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia
  • At least five years of Network/Systems Engineering or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in network engineering and security
  • Demonstrated experience in network device hardware configuration
  • Demonstrated experience in network monitoring systems
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting a variety of systems engineering tasks
  • Demonstrated experience in both open-source and commercial software configuration and management
