Overhead Manager

The role:

The Overhead Manager position exists to lead the Overhead team and is accountable for ensuring overhead electrical access, installation and associated works on the MTM Network are delivered effectively, safely and efficiently by the team to ensure delivery of all required works for Metro Projects. Ideally, you will join MTM with experience leading a large rail delivery business in a rail project or operating environment.

 

Main duties:

Implement processes to drive high performance and monitor performance against agreed standards.
Provide HV Electrical subject matter expertise to Network Integration, Portfolios, Alliances to support the continuous improvement to resolve conflicting electrical issues.
Ensure and support lodgement of Certificates of Electrical Safety for compliance with regulatory requirements. 
Ensure adequate resources and equipment is available for all overhead works including contingencies, emergency conditions to restore services with minimal risk to safety and operating services.
Lead and drive performance and accountability through daily visualisation meetings.
Implement lean processes throughout all tasks undertaken by the team. 
Any other duties as specified by manager.

Education, skills and experience:

Mandatory:

  • Associate Diploma of Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive experience leading a large rail delivery business in a rail project or operating environment 
  • Extensive experience with High Voltage systems and commissioning processes, project management and resource management forecasting and reporting tools 
  • Experience leading teams in a unionised environment 
  • Proven experience of managing budgets, including direct commercial, budget and planning accountability 
  • Ability to undertake work shift duties on a 24 hour 7 day a week roster and work reasonable overtime as required and respond to after hour emergencies 
  • Ability to deliver large cultural change within an organisation through new work practices, staff accountability, responsibility and technology
  • Ability to lead a significant step change in HSE improvement beyond just compliance 

Preferred:

  • Certificate IV in Front-Line Management 
  • Knowledge of the safety requirements of working in the rail and/or maintenance industry, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Codes of Practice, regulations, safe working  
  • Experience in using project management methodologies
