Platform Screen Door (PSD) Night Team Leader

 

The PSD Team Leader position exists to ensure, under direction, that Lighting and Power is available to maintain train running. This is accomplished by the performance of preventative and reactive maintenance, renewals, installations and other tasks.

 

Permanent night shift (10pm - 6am), Sunday to Thursday 5 Days on 2 days off full-time opportunity!

 

  • VE5 rate - $78.5168 (hourly) $155,149 (yearly)
  • Plus E Grade allowance
  • Plus Infrastructure works allowance and loading

About The Role

We’re looking for a dedicated Platform Screen Door Team Leader to supervise and lead a team of 10 PSD Maintainers to help ensure the smooth and safe operation of Melbourne’s rail network.

 

Your work will include preventative and reactive maintenance, asset renewals, installations, and other essential tasks that keep our infrastructure running reliably. If you’re hands-on, safety-focused, and ready to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

 

This is a fantastic permanent night shift, full-time opportunity offering the chance to work across multiple locations in the new metro tunnel stations ANZAC, Townhall, State Library, Parkville and Arden giving you exposure to diverse environments and experiences while contributing to a vital part of Melbourne’s transport network. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

As a Platform Screen Door Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in keeping our network safe and operational by:

 

  • Support the achievement of KPI’s and technical maintenance plan and lead the team.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of Lighting and Power equipment to support quality systems.
  • Assist in ensuring material resources are available for the safe, efficient and timely execution of all preventive and reactive maintenance works.
  • Without detailed instructions and where procedures are established, perform basic tests, carry out simple installations and measurements, investigate and repair faults on the system and report data. Install, with instructions, more complex type of equipment.
  • Under supervision and as a member of a team, carry out reactive and planned maintenance, renewals, installation and ensure electrical installations are functioning to Australian Standards, and other tasks on high / low voltage equipment within the Metro network
  • Building in accordance with Metro’s requirements and relevant rules and regulations.
  • Dismantle, assemble, clean, lubricate, adjust or repair individual items within the MTM network
  • Exercise judgement in deciding how tasks are performed and where appropriate, resolve problems taking into account regulations, departmental policy and practice, encountered in day to day duties.
  • Undertake Risk Assessments and provide safety information as required.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the appropriate Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Regulations and Metro Trains policies and procedures
  • Ensure the safety of all persons working near electrical assets
  • Ensure potential hazards are identified and prevention/control measures are provided
  • Ensure high risk activities such as: working heights, rail safety and mobile plant are compliant with high risk licence and MTM safety requirements


About You

 

You’re a qualified Electrical Tradesperson with a current “A” Class Electrical Licence, and you bring a solid background in electrical maintenance within industrial or infrastructure environments. You take pride in your ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex systems, and you’re confident leading a small team.

 

  • A current Licence and qualification as an Electrical Tradesperson.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance within industrial or similar environments.
  • Ability to operate screen-based equipment and associated software.
  • Certification in Track Safety Awareness (Level 1) and First Aid (Level 2) (preferred).
  • Rail Safety Competency (desirable).
  • Strong ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and circuitry.
  • Solid understanding of OHS&E legislation, AS3000, and safe working practices.
  • Willingness to night shift, overtime, and participate in an on-call roster.
  • A valid manual Victorian Driver’s Licence
