About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Compliance Specialist to join the team! You’ll coordinate payroll compliance processes to ensure all functions of payroll are compliant legally across audit and financial. In this role you’ll implement and maintain a continuous improvement activities with a focus on statutory reporting obligations are met.

This is a full-time role based out of our Collins Street office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer expert guidance on compliance matters to ensure clarity on policies and regulations.
  • Interpret and communicate policies effectively to align operations with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct compliance assessments, generate detailed reports, and collaborate with stakeholders on outcomes.
  • Proactively monitor adherence to Metro standards, introducing tools and processes for consistency.
  • Interpret and apply employment laws, tax codes and industrials instruments (e.g. EAs, Awards). Ensure payroll systems and process comply with Fair work Act, ATO regulations and superannuation laws.
  • Conduct Internal payroll audits to identify discrepancies or non-compliance and maintain audit trails and regulatory reviews

Qualifications

  • Proven experience within a compliance role with the Payroll space
  • Complex T&A and Payroll systems experience
  • Proven systems, process and reporting capability.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel and Access skills – including data manipulation and transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective business partnerships and stakeholder management.
  • An experienced analyst who is curious, open minded and up to date with current employment and data trends.
  • Proven capability of working with integrated systems and being able to provide insights through reporting.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and managing workload well to achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to schedule and communicate work priorities.
