We are seeking a full-time People Business Partner to join our team on a 12-month max term contract, based at MTM’s Docklands head office.
This role supports sustainable business performance by partnering with leaders across Metro on key people priorities including performance, talent, remuneration, organisational design, culture, change, engagement, and inclusion. Working with the Head of People, Divisional People teams and our Centres of Expertise, you’ll help shape and deliver an aligned People strategy and implement impactful initiatives for your client group(s).

- Work collaboratively with the Head of People, People teams, and Centres of Expertise to bring Metro’s People strategy to life for your client group(s).
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Senior People Business Partner to create and deliver a business‑aligned People Plan for your client group(s).
- Support people managers with employee relations matters—including discipline, grievances, and investigations
- Support business transformations by designing, planning, and implementing organisational changes that improve performance and effectiveness.
- Coach and equip managers with the appropriate knowledge to effectively lead and manage their teams.
- Deliver plans to enable key culture transitions reinforcing the desired high-performance culture through corporate programs. This includes leading the implementation of annual employee engagement plans to address employee engagement survey findings as required.
- Build trusted, sustainable relationships with leaders to solve business challenges while aligning with corporate practices and influence positive employee outcomes through strong client partnerships.
- Provide high level advice to ensure the effective application of Metro’s People policies and processes within client group(s), legal and regulatory compliance.
- Establish and maintain influential relationships with clients to help guide positive employee interactions and outcomes.
- Engage with people leaders on the impacts of new roles, replacement strategies, salary benchmarking, position evaluations.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline
- Extensive experience in a People Business Partnering environment
- Strong capability across core HR disciplines, including:
- resourcing, talent and succession, change management, performance, engagement, workplace relations, remuneration and rewards, health and safety, organisation design, and diversity & inclusion
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead change initiatives
- Experience coaching managers and supporting them through complex people matters
- Background working within a large, complex, matrixed organisation
- Strong business partnering and consulting skills, with an approachable and trusted style
- Excellent communications, writing and editorial skills; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving environment.
- Ability to strike an appropriate tone in personal communication style and in developing the style - voice/tone/language - for written and digital communications.
