Project Engineer - Track Renewals

The role:

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer – Track Renewals to join our Track Delivery Team within the Infrastructure Division.


Reporting to the Production Manager – Track Renewals, you will act as the technical specialist for the interpretation and communication of standards, in-depth understanding of rail track specifications and impacts on the various discipline interfaces. Harnessing your experience in this field, you will advise on renewal "best practice", continually working with other team members to achieve efficient and safe renewals outcomes.
 

Role responsibilities

The responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical expertise in maintenance, renewals, upgrades and constructions works
  • Seeking and implement innovative methods of improving production and safety
  • Supporting the delivery of works by assisting with planning, project management, work methodology and implementation of works on site to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and complies with designs and Metro Trains’ standards 
  • Ensuring works are completed in accordance with the Technical Maintenance Plan and/or the Annual Works Plan
  • Monitoring the quality of works undertaken and ensure corrective actions are undertaken where deficiencies are identified
  • Carrying out investigations as required and review and manage all investigation reports within their area of expertise
  • Identifying and support Engineering in type approvals of all infrastructure assets
  • Performing risk assessments of processes, work practices, materials, suppliers and innovations to ensure work is delivered as efficiently and safely as possible

About you:

To be successful for this role you will possesses the following:

  • Technical tertiary qualification or Certificate IV in a designated rail related discipline
  • Current drivers license
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the rail or related industry
