Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer (Electrical & OCS) to support the Melton Level Crossing Removal Project as part of the North Western Program Alliance
As the Project Engineer (Electrical & OCS) you will be responsible for the Station and Carparking Electrical, Electrical (Civil) and OCS packages as part of the Temporary and Permanent stations at Melton
This role will coordinate the procurement, subcontractor engagement (scoping, tender evaluation), planning and co-ordination of works onsite (programming, permits, AMS/TRA/ITP preparation, monthly reporting). As well as the permanent works packages will require design review, value engineering, and early subcontractor engagement
This position is offered as a 12 month full time max term contract based onsite at our Melton Level Crossing Removal project
Key Responsibilities
- Represent Metro's interest for the State and meet completions process deliverables as set by the Project or Program Proposal / Project Brief in accordance with MTM’s Franchise Agreement and relevant aspects of the applicable project management framework across the project life cycle.
- Prepare project plans and risk assessments, scope of works for evaluation and tendering purposes
- Support project schedule management and project budget management
- Provide subcontractor commercial management, including the validation of claims, variations and execution of commercial agreements
- Ongoing reporting of the project progress
- Ensure adherence to internal and alliance SOPs, external regulations and laws (including maintenance of project documentation)
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise on a project – finding efficient and effective solutions
- Commission and qualification activities
- Monitor, plan and execute work packages to ensure they meet quality, safety and environmental and design standards
- Consult with contractors and subcontractors on critical issues that impact on projects, and achieve agreement on the most appropriate course of action.
- Ensure site access and excavation permits and other relevant documentation are adhered to
- Develop and monitor onsite quality assurance documentation
- Identify work practices, methods, quality, cost, time, scope and activities that can be altered or improved
About You:
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent
- Experienced in project delivery across LV Electrical & OCS scope of works
- Previous experience in subcontractor management
- 5 years plus experience in Engineering, Rail , Project Management and Construction
- Well developed stakeholder engagement experience across multi-discplinary organisations
