As the Level Crossing Removal Project continues to deliver a safer and more efficient train network, the Metro team involved in this large-scale project is expanding to respond to current and future works. Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) are currently seeking a Project Manager - Completions for work on our Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), on the South Eastern Program Alliance!


About the role:  


As the Project Manager - Completions you will be responsible for leading a team of people to set strategy and manage Completions deliverables and drive continuous improvement across asset handover for our network and associated stakeholders assets.  You will drive outcomes to ensure asset handover is done safely, to compliance requirements and integrates into our network, and to maximise our gain share. 


This opportunity is offered as a senior role within the Alliance on a full time, permanent position primarily based at our Program office in Mont Albert with some work from project locations required in Hallam, Ringwood and West Melbourne, and see the finishing touches applied to sites at Lilydale and Cranbourne. The key responsibilities of the Project Manager - Completions will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing a team of Completions staff and contractors for deliverables across all phases of the project life cycle including projects in Development, Delivery and Close Out
  • Drive strategy, innovation and change across the Alliance in the Completions discipline and influence key internal and external stakeholders to embed the Completions mindset and processes across the Alliance
  • Working closely with the Development, Delivery and Quality teams to develop management plans, documents, templates, registers, tool and reports to increase task efficiency awareness, governance and accountability
  • Champion continuous improvement and identify, develop, and implement processes and systems to support Completions and defects management and increase compliance and efficiency
  • Timely reporting of performance and deliverables and championing the discipline to successful outcomes
  • Effective communication with key stakeholders including development and delivery of presentations


In partnership with the project delivery teams, ensure proactive management, leadership and oversight of the following functions: 

  • Asset Data
  • As-built drawing acceptance (DMS)
  • Asset Acceptance
  • Asset Management System updates
  • Defect and fault management, including defect and fault rectification
  • Practical & Final Completion applications


Desired qualifications, skills and experience: 

  • People management with the ability to coach and mentor direct reports, Alliance staff, contractors and external stakeholders
  • Engineering tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Completions, Quality or a similar field in construction with rail experience a distinct advantage
  • Ability to influence at all levels and drive strategy and change
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions
  • Demonstrated experience using a high level of accuracy and working to tight timescales
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrate drive and initiative in relation to leveraging governance, systems and processes
  • Ability to analyse data, write and present reports
  • Undertake and complete complex problem solving
