The Project


We are currently seeing a Project Manager to play a key role in The Level Crossing Removal (MLXRT) Project team by providing effective project management throughout various projects across the Alliances. This newly created role is an excellent opportunity to be part of a large-scale project which will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.


The Role


In this role, you will ensure OH&S, quality, cost, time and scope parameters of the projects are adequately set out and achieved by working closely with all relevant stakeholders and striving for best for business optimisation of the Program Alliance and MTM.  


This role will require you to be available for rail Occupations (where the rail network is shut down for construction activities to safely take place), Occupations can take place at night, weekends or, public holidays. 




  • Plan, organise, direct and monitor assigned projects to ensure their completion on time and within budget, with all project risks mitigated to minimise their effect on train operations whilst ensuring that construction standards are maintained and conform to applicable safety, reliability and quality standards
  • Manage all aspects of allocated projects in conjunction with clients, designers and contractors to progress projects through procurement into the delivery phase
  • Identify and resolve issues associated with Scope, Design, Estimation, Scheduling, Risk Management
  • Interface with colleagues on a common project with a "best for the business" approach to problem-solving
  • Liaise with stakeholders and key MTM internal project groups, operations, maintenance, infrastructure and other associated parties in order to meet project targets objectives and milestones.
  • Effective project management of the procurement and delivery phases of the respective Projects
  • Ensure that the safety and integrity of the operating system is at the forefront of all negotiations, meetings and activities and is not compromised during the project
  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the MTM project delivery team and others within an alliance environment.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and with other development team members including professional, technical and operational stakeholders
  • Prepare monthly project reports including financial, risk, project management, safety and environment metrics
  • Any other duties as specified by the manager


About You 


  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • Experience in Project Managing multiple discipline projects in short and tight timelines within a major project environment
  • 4-5 years experience in construction or rail industries
  • Excellent knowledge of planning & scheduling, cost control, and project management techniques
  • Capability to lead meetings and bring stakeholders together
  • Ability to prepare and present reports
  • Proactive and a self-managed approach to work
  • Skilled in managing competing demands along with excellent time management skills
  • Rail Industry Worker Card including Train Track Safety Awareness (TTSA), Construction Induction (White Card)
  • Previous experience preparing tender designs, understanding common conditions of contractual terms, documentation, and tendering bid process
