About the role
We’re looking for a highly experienced Shutdown Safeworking Manager to lead the planning and delivery of safeworking across major rail shutdowns, including Early Week Night Occupations (EWNOs) and complex weekend works.
In this critical leadership role, you’ll set the safeworking strategy and standards that enable safe, compliant and efficient delivery of high-risk rail operations. You’ll work at the centre of major projects, partnering across teams to manage risk, optimise resources, and ensure every shutdown is executed with precision and a commitment to Safely Always.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the safeworking strategy and provide subject matter expertise, ensuring compliance with MTM standards and rail safety legislation.
- Act as the escalation point for safeworking risks or issues and drive risk-based decision-making to meet Safely Always and operational objectives.
- Manage the Safeworking team, ensuring capability, performance, and adherence to best practices.
- Manage and plan shutdown safeworking resourcing, documentation and align with occupation scope and timelines.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and represent safeworking in planning, readiness, and operational meetings to ensure integration and coordination.
- Monitor safeworking performance and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational outcomes.
About you
- Track Force Protection Coordinator 3.2 accreditation and valid Victorian Driver Licence.
- Experience leading shutdown safeworking or high-risk rail operations in complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of MTM Rail Network, safeworking standards, and rail safety legislation.
- Proven ability to interpret and validate technical safeworking plans, including PTF Zones and occupation strategies.
- Effective leader with strong communication, reporting, and team support skills in safety-critical settings.
