About the Role

 

The Senior First Peoples Advisor is our go-to person for providing strategic advice and support to improve Metro’s First Peoples engagement and opportunities for participation.  

 

Based at 700 Collins Street, you will be part of the Corporate Responsibility team within our Corporate Affairs division. This role offers a hybrid arrangement, with three days in the office and two days working from home.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and influence the development and delivery of Metro’s Self-Determination Plan, including the convening of a Self-Determination Steering Committee 
  • Manage and develop external engagement with First Nations communities and identify stakeholders to ensure that self-determination is embedded in the development and delivery of the plan
  • Lead the engagement for Metro’s Indigenous Employee Network by identifying and implementing opportunities for enhancement
  • Lead and manage Metro’s First Nations community partnerships including seeking opportunities to bolster the partnership and Metro’s exposure.
  • Prepare and present information/reports to the Metro Executive team and the Department of Transport and Planning

 

About You 

 

  • Previous experience in an Indigenous Affairs and community engagement and/or social procurement position
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively engage and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in project management in particular leading and implementing strategies through collaboration
  • Strong experience in managing community and stakeholder issues
