We are seeking a full-time Senior Advisor Media & Content to join our team on a permanent basis, based at MTM’s Docklands head office.
The Senior Advisor Media and Content is responsible for executing and operationally delivering communications plans and initiatives, providing external communications through news media and Metro’s social media channels, and supporting enterprise communications strategy and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver effective media and social media communications, aligned to MTM's strategy and Business Plan, with a focus on quality, consistency and continuous improvement.
- Lead the development and delivery of Metro’s social media strategy.
- Participate as a key member of Metro’s 24/7 on‑call media phone roster, including outside business hours.
- Contribute to Incident Management Teams and support Metro’s crisis management response as required.
- Contribute to and deliver a range of communication tools and collateral, working with Corporate Affairs colleagues, for a variety of external audiences and to support specific projects and initiatives as required (e.g. including media clippings service, presentations, announcements, reports, digital content, video, etc.)
- Translate complex technical information into clear communications and support the identification, management, and escalation of reputational risks.
- Manage reactive media responses as required, while working with relevant internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure a suitable outcome that minimises reputational risk.
- Apply strategic measurement and analysis across external channels, campaigns, and initiatives to identify insights and inform continuous improvement.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, and/or related field.
- Experience working in news media eg. Newspapers (online and/or print), television or radio news.
- Technical capability in photography and video production.
- Experience in a similar role supporting integrated communication strategies and content to channels, preferably in a complex environment involving significant senior stakeholder management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of, and working understanding of, all core content channels including face to face, online, broadcast, print and social media.
- Solid experience in communicating with a diverse employee base - from office-based employees to frontline operational employees - is required, along with a strong track record in applying strategic measurement analysis to inform communication improvement areas.
- Excellent communications, writing and editorial skills; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving environment.
- Ability to strike an appropriate tone in personal communication style and in developing the style - voice/tone/language - for written and digital communications.
