About the role
The Senior Communications Advisor is responsible for the execution and operational delivery of communications plans and initiatives to deliver communications, driving the divisional communications strategy and supporting the delivery of communications outcomes.
This position supports the Rolling Stock team who look after Metro’s fleet of Siemens, X’Trapolis, and Comeng trains. We've got a dedicated team of of over 450 skilled employees who handle everything from maintenance and upgrades to keeping the trains reliable, looking great and running smoothly.
This is a part time position (3 days per week) and based at 700 Collins Street with a hybrid work arrangement. Travel to depots will be required to collaborate with your stakeholder group.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver clear, consistent communications that support strategic priorities and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal divisions and Corporate Affairs to plan and implement integrated communication initiatives across all channels.
- Create a range of communication materials tailored to diverse audiences, including digital content, reports, presentations, and events.
- Ensure brand consistency by monitoring staff use of brand assets and managing the corporate brand.
- Analyse data to guide communication strategies and improve their effectiveness.
- Manage external agencies when required, and document processes to support consistent communication practices across the organisation.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, PR, Marketing or a related field.
- Proven experience in delivering integrated communication strategies within complex environments and managing senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of all core communication channels, including face-to-face, digital, print, and social media.
- Experience communicating effectively with diverse employee groups, including frontline and office-based staff.
- Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Adaptable, with a strategic mindset and the ability to tailor tone and messaging across various formats and audiences.
