Position

Metro’s Legal & Compliance team is looking for a smart, analytical, passionate and motivated lawyer to provide expert legal advice to Metro’s Operational Control Management Systems (OCMS) team on a range of matters with a particular focus on information technology, intellectual property, contract negotiation, procurement & tender processes and dispute resolution. You will advise all areas of Metro’s technology business including executive level management. You will confidently deal with government and public sector stakeholders and deal with issues of a sensitive nature. You will assist your clients to identify and manage legal issues and risks and encourage safe and ethical conduct.  You will liaise with external lawyers as required. This Senior Lawyer role is a 16 month max term contract working on part-time basis , 3 days per week.

Responsibilities


You are a conceptual, analytical and results focused lawyer who is passionate about safety, people and the railway.

You have a tertiary qualification in law (LLB, Juris Doctor or equivalent) and hold a current Victorian legal practising certificate without conditions.  You have at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a quality firm.  You have experience in technology law or general commercial practice.

You value the importance of teamwork, challenging your peers and making a difference.  You have the agility to engage with a variety of stakeholders, maintaining positive working relationships and communicating legal advice at all levels.

You have the ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining focused on achieving excellent results.
