As the Level Crossing Removal Project continues to deliver a safer and more efficient train network, the Metro team involved in this large-scale project is expanding to respond to current and future works. The experience gained in this exciting, multi-disciplinary environment will be valuable to building your career in rail construction.


Metro Trains Melbourne are currently seeking suitably experienced Signalling Engineers to support current & future Level Crossing Removal projects as part of the Western Program Alliance. This large-scale project will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.


Current vacancies are supporting Signalling packages across current and future projects within the Western Suburbs, offered on a 12 month full time contract with a view to permanency



Key Areas of Responsibility


  • Supporting all signalling activities across the program
  • Lead the detailed planning for specific project activities as assigned
  • Managing end to end engineering requirements within signalling scope of works
  • Manage all aspects of allocated projects in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and contractors to progress projects to implementation and commissioning
  • Manage the signalling design contractors information and drawings, including ensuring that a current drawing register is maintained and that the documentation is issued to all the relevant parties
  • Interface with project teams & internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify work practices , methods and activities that can be altered or improved



About You


  • Tertiary Qualification in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Membership with the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers desirable
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary rail projects
  • Experience in signalling design activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong & effective experience in engineering principles of planning , report preparation and scheduling
